Celtic pattern, geometry and the imagination: a four day drawing course taught by artist Adam Tetlow focused on the construction of knot work, keys and spirals from the Celtic Christian tradition.

Continuing my quest to gain a better practical understanding of the structure of patterns it was a privilege to spend time at the Princes School of Traditional Arts in London. The course was a revelation to me; the complexity of the under-grids along with the Celtic tradition of introducing 'obstacles' and 'tilted' compositions opened up possibilities for disrupting the geometry that I hadn't previously considered.
