I am delighted that a recent Grants for the Arts application has been successful and that I am able to step into the world of curating!

Freak Show - The Unstable Nature of Difference will be co-curated with artist Jo Thorne and take place at Contemporary Art Space Chester, Spring 2015.

The exhibition will explore the uncertain boundaries of physical and psychological identity focusing on disability and difference; an exploration of what it means to be human.

Inspiration for the show has come from Alexa Wright’s book Monstrosity, by Niet Normaal (Bluecoat Gallery, Liverpool as part of DaDaFest 2012) and by our own experiences of disability. The exhibition will bring together 10 artists working in performance, video, drawing, sculpture and film and will include work by Katherine Araniello, Eric Fong, Lesley Halliwell, Paddy Hartley, Karen Heald and Susan Liggett (with their project In-between-ness), Andrew Kotting (who is re-working his installation Mapping Perception specially for the show), Noemi Lakmaier, Daksha Patel, Jo Thorne and Alexa Wright.

We are delighted to be working with such a fantastic group of artists.

Watch this space for more details in months to come….
